Why Catching Mice Is Better Than Poisoning Them
Poison kills mice slowly and they often die inside walls, causing odor problems and attracting secondary pests. Sticky traps catch mice immediately, contain them cleanly, and eliminate the risk of poison exposure to children and pets. See our full guide on how to get rid of mice without poison.
Tip 1: Place Traps Along Walls, Not in Open Spaces
Mice are thigmotactic — they prefer to travel along walls and edges rather than crossing open floors. Place traps flush against walls with the adhesive side facing the wall. This is the single most important placement rule.
Tip 2: Use Multiple Traps at Once
One trap rarely solves a mouse problem. Use at least 4–6 traps placed in different locations simultaneously — under appliances, behind furniture, near entry points, and in any areas where you've seen droppings or heard activity.
Tip 3: Choose the Right Trap
Sulguy Foldable Sticky Mouse Traps are heavy-duty glue boards that fold into a tunnel shape — mice feel safer entering enclosed spaces. No bait needed, no snap mechanism, no poison. Check daily and replace when caught.
Tip 4: Identify and Seal Entry Points
Catching mice is temporary if new ones keep entering. Inspect your home for gaps around pipes, under doors, and in foundation cracks. Mice can squeeze through a 6mm gap. Seal with steel wool and caulk. Read The Safest Way to Deal With Mice at Home for a complete sealing guide.
Tip 5: Use Peppermint as a Deterrent After Trapping
Once mouse activity has stopped, apply Sulguy Peppermint Spray along baseboards and entry points. Mice dislike strong peppermint scent and will avoid treated areas — helping prevent re-entry.
How Long Until the Mice Are Gone?
With correct trap placement and sealed entry points, most infestations are resolved within 1–3 weeks. If catches continue beyond 3 weeks, there is likely an unsealed entry point. Inspect again and apply Sulguy Diatomaceous Earth around suspected entry areas as an additional deterrent.
