How to Get Rid of Ants in the Kitchen Without Pesticides

How to Get Rid of Ants in the Kitchen Without Pesticides

Why Kitchen Ants Are So Hard to Eliminate

Ants don't just wander in randomly. They follow scent trails left by scout ants who've already found food. Killing the ants you see does nothing to stop the colony sending more.

Step 1: Remove the Food Source First

Before applying any product, eliminate what's attracting them. Store sugar, honey, and fruit in sealed containers. Wipe down counters after every meal. Empty your trash daily.

Step 2: Spray Entry Points With Peppermint

Ants navigate by scent, and peppermint oil disrupts their trail signals. Sulguy Peppermint Bug Spray can be applied directly along windowsills, door gaps, and baseboards. It's safe to use in kitchens around food prep areas when used as directed.

Step 3: Apply Diatomaceous Earth Along Their Path

Diatomaceous earth damages the exoskeleton of ants on contact — no chemical toxicity involved. Sulguy Diatomaceous Earth & Peppermint Powder works well dusted behind the stove, under the refrigerator, and inside cabinet corners. Keep it dry for best results.

Step 4: Use Glue Traps to Monitor Activity

Place Sulguy Insect Glue Traps along baseboards and under the sink. They capture ants without chemicals and help you track which areas still have activity. Check every 2-3 days.

Step 5: Seal Cracks and Entry Points

Use silicone caulk to seal gaps around pipes, outlets, and window frames. Ants can enter through openings as small as 1mm. This step prevents re-entry without any product use.

What About Ant Bait?

For persistent infestations, a slow-acting bait like Sulguy Cockroach Gel Bait can also work against certain ant species — worker ants carry it back to the colony. Apply only in areas completely out of children's reach.

How Long Does It Take?

With consistent application of peppermint spray and DE, most kitchen ant problems improve within 5-7 days. Sealing entry points prevents them from returning.
