Why Flies Keep Coming Back Indoors
Flies don't enter your home randomly — they're attracted to food, moisture, warmth, and light. Killing the ones you see does nothing if the attractants remain. Effective fly control means removing what draws them in and trapping those that get through.
Step 1 — Remove Attractants
- Store all food in sealed containers or the fridge
- Empty bins daily and keep lids tightly closed
- Clean up food spills immediately — flies can detect organic matter from significant distances
- Fix leaking pipes and eliminate standing water — moisture attracts flies for breeding
- Clean pet food bowls after each meal
Step 2 — Trap Flies With UV Light
Flies are strongly attracted to UV light. Sulguy UV Mosquito Trap attracts and traps house flies, fruit flies, and gnats using 365nm UV light and a quiet suction fan. No chemicals, no zapper noise. Place in the kitchen or near entry points for best results.
Step 3 — Use Glue Traps and Fly Strips
Sulguy Insect Glue Traps can be placed flat near bins, drains, and food prep areas to catch crawling flies and other insects. For flying flies near windows and ceilings, hang Sulguy Fly Strips — non-toxic disposable sticky traps that catch flies in mid-air. Check and replace every 1–2 weeks.
Step 4 — Apply Peppermint Spray Around Entry Points
Flies dislike strong peppermint scent. Apply Sulguy Peppermint Spray around windowsills, door frames, and entry points to deter flies from landing and entering.
Fruit Flies vs. House Flies
If the flies are tiny and hovering near fruit, drains, or bins, you likely have fruit flies rather than house flies. The treatment approach differs. Read How to Get Rid of Fruit Flies in Your Kitchen for a targeted guide.
