How to Keep Scorpions Out of Your Home

How to Keep Scorpions Out of Your Home

Why Scorpions Enter Homes

Scorpions are hunters. They follow their prey — crickets, spiders, and other small insects — indoors through cracks, gaps under doors, and openings around pipes.

They are most active at night and prefer hiding in dark, undisturbed areas like shoes, towels, and cardboard boxes. In warm climates, they can be found year-round.

Are Scorpions Dangerous?

Most scorpion stings cause pain, swelling, and numbness. Severe reactions are uncommon but possible, especially for children and the elderly.

The best strategy is prevention. Keep them out before they get in.

Step 1 — Eliminate Their Food Source

Scorpions follow insects. Reduce the insect population inside your home and scorpions will have no reason to stay.

Apply Sulguy Crawling Pest Control Powder Spray to eliminate the crickets and small crawlers that scorpions feed on. It is odorless, dissolves in water, and is safe for indoor use.

Spread Sulguy Diatomaceous Earth with Peppermint along baseboards and in corners. It kills crawling insects on contact, cutting off the scorpion's food supply naturally.

Step 2 — Seal Every Entry Point

Inspect your home carefully. Scorpions can squeeze through gaps as thin as a credit card.

Seal cracks around pipes, window frames, and door thresholds with silicone caulk. Install door sweeps on exterior doors. Check for gaps around utility lines entering the home.

Step 3 — Apply a Perimeter Treatment

Create a chemical barrier around your home's exterior. Sulguy Bifenthrin Concentrate is a professional-grade insecticide that is highly effective against scorpions when diluted and applied around the foundation, doorways, and window edges.

Reapply every 60–90 days, or after heavy rain. This is one of the most reliable ways to stop scorpions before they cross the threshold.

Step 4 — Use Peppermint as a Natural Repellent

Scorpions are sensitive to strong scents. Spray Sulguy Peppermint Bug Spray around entry points, along baseboards, and in garage corners.

Reapply weekly in high-risk areas. Peppermint spray works as a first line of defense and complements chemical perimeter treatments safely.

Step 5 — Set Glue Traps as Monitors

Place Sulguy Crawling Insect Glue Traps in dark corners, under furniture, behind appliances, and inside garage areas. Scorpions move along walls, so traps placed against baseboards are especially effective.

Check traps weekly. Catching a scorpion tells you exactly where they are entering, so you can seal that area.

Indoor Safety Habits That Make a Difference

Shake out shoes before putting them on. Check towels, bedding, and clothing left on the floor. Keep clutter off the ground — cardboard boxes and piles of fabric are ideal hiding spots.

Keep Sulguy Bamboo Charcoal Bags in storage areas and closets to reduce the moisture and musty conditions that attract the insects scorpions prey on.

Outdoors, remove woodpiles, leaf litter, and rock piles near your home's foundation. Scorpions shelter in these during the day and move indoors at night.
