Two Ingredients. No Chemicals. Real Results.
You don't need a cabinet full of pesticides to control household pests. Diatomaceous earth and peppermint oil — two natural ingredients — work together to kill and repel the most common home insects. Here's how they work and how to use them.
Ingredient 1: Diatomaceous Earth
Diatomaceous earth (DE) is a fine powder made from fossilized freshwater algae called diatoms. Under a microscope, the particles are razor-sharp. When crawling insects walk through DE, it damages their exoskeletons and causes them to dehydrate and die — typically within 24–48 hours.
What it kills: cockroaches, ants, silverfish, bedbugs, fleas, mites, and most other crawling insects.
Safe for: humans, pets, and beneficial insects like bees (as long as it's not applied to flowers).
Use Sulguy Diatomaceous Earth Powder along baseboards, under appliances, and around entry points. Reapply after it gets wet.
Ingredient 2: Peppermint Oil
Peppermint oil is a powerful sensory irritant for insects and rodents. It disrupts the chemical signals ants use to follow trails, disorients cockroaches, and deters mice from treated areas.
What it repels: ants, cockroaches, spiders, mice, and flies.
Best used as: a perimeter spray along baseboards, entry points, and windowsills. Reapply every 1–2 weeks.
Sulguy Peppermint Bug Spray is pre-formulated at an effective concentration — no mixing required. Want to know more about how essential oils work? Read Do Essential Oils Actually Work for Pest Control?
How to Use Them Together
- Apply diatomaceous earth in cracks, crevices, and along baseboards where insects travel
- Spray peppermint spray along entry points, windowsills, and doorframes
- Place Sulguy Glue Traps to monitor activity and catch stragglers
- Reapply both after cleaning or heavy rain
Why This Combination Works
DE kills insects already inside. Peppermint deters new ones from entering. Together they create a kill zone inside and a barrier outside — the two-layer approach that professional pest controllers use, without the chemicals.
